Coverage: Although counselling fees are not covered under the BC Medical Services Plan, many extended health plans do include counselling coverage. Please call your insurer and ask whether they cover a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). If you find that RCC visits are not covered under your plan, you may want to contact your insurance company directly to request an exception to the plan’s coverage. Here is an example letter for this case:
Social Media Policy: As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) I find it helpful to clarify my social media policy with each client. We will discuss more in detail in our first session, but I would like to share my Social Media Policy briefly here as it relates to how I conduct myself online: As an RCC, I take confidentiality very seriously. You have the full right to share with others that you are in therapy and what we have discussed, but please be aware that if you comment at all on social media sites, even if it is not about our work together, people may make inferences about how you know me. Facebook: I will not accept Friend Requests from current or former clients. If you need to contact me between sessions, email or phone work best. Instagram & Monthly Newsletter: I do have a public Instagram account where people may follow me for inspiration around the theme of women's issues, and a newsletter where I send inspirations and updates on upcoming workshops that I will be holding. Please note that I have no expectation that you will Follow me on Instagram or receive my newsletter. If you've signed up to the newsletter, you are welcome to unsubscribe at any time. Business Review sites: I am on business review sites such as Google Business and Yelp to let people know I exist, not to solicit testimonials. I strongly recommend that if you do feel called to comment, please use a pseudonym. However, you are always welcome to bring your comments or any feelings about work directly to me. I am always interested to know what you feel works well! Client Testimonials: I obtain testimonials for my website only from colleagues or from workshop participants. My workshops may be therapeutic, but they are not therapy groups. Still, if you send me a testimonial about workshops with your real name, I will likely change it to a pseudonym just to avoid any chance that people might not understand what Circlework is and infer that you are a client. Contacting Me: Email or voicemail are the best ways to reach me. I check my email many times in a day on the days that I work. If it is a day off, you will hear back from me the following day. Texts are not ideal and can easily be missed.
Again, I fully invite you to share any thoughts or feelings about our work with me! First, I will may not see it if it is written online. Second, I want to honour confidentiality. And third, even if you feel we are not a fit, often some great healing can happen through these types of conversations.
