“Paradoxically, we achieve true wholeness only by embracing our fragility and sometimes, our brokenness. Wholeness is a natural radiance of Love, and Love demands that we allow the destruction of our old self for the sake of the new.” (Jalaja Bonheim)
Are you wondering how you can be more loving and accepting of yourself? Curious if counselling is for you?
You do not need to be in crisis or have a history of trauma to work with a therapist, though many people do hold trauma in their bodies. Therapy can include learning assertiveness skills, coping skills, grounding tools, exploring relationship patterns or even practicing meditation. Although I have my map of where we are going and how you will ultimately arrive at a greater sense of well-being, only you know what is helpful for you. You can ask me any questions at all about my therapeutic approach and you are always invited to share with me what you would like more or less of in our work together.
I have thorough training in the areas of Mindfulness and dreamwork and am currently certifying as a Focusing-Oriented Therapist. In order to help you discover what's between you and your full confidence, I draw from a blend of therapeutic modalities. In order to honour your unique needs, I primarily draw from attachment-based, relational, emotion-focused approaches with elements of Self-compassion. You do not need to know what any of this means (unless you want to)!
From the Focusing perspective, you are a whole and competent person who will find creative ways to resolve problems through little steps of change when you are fully attuned to and understood exactly.
I enjoy weaving together my understanding of human physiology and psychology to approach counselling and healing in a holistic and integrated way.
